Borgarfjordur at your speed
Borgarfjordur area is quite large with countless possibilities to explore and enjoy. Therefore it is important to take your time and enjoy the area to the fullest. Here are some suggestions of day tours we would like to do our selves.Travel Period: All year round (check opening hours)
Day 1
Start the day on a drive to Hvanneyri, a university campus that also offer other
interesting choices. A visit to the church is worth the visit
and if you are interested in farming don’t miss out the Agricultural Museum as
well as the Wool House with amazing products from the area, handmade from
different kinds of material.
From Hvanneyri drive to Reykholt and explore this historical
site where Snorri Sturluson, one of Iceland’s best writers lived. Head back to Borgarnes, enjoy a nice dinner at a restaurant before you head to sleep.

Day 2
Visit the Settlement Center in Borgarnes and experience Egils Saga as well as the
story of settlement with help of audio guides. Drive
to Fossatun for a lunch as well as as Trollwalk that will excite you as well as
help you get rid of all your worries, all with help of the trollwomen Drífa.From Fossatún go to Husafell and on the way stop at Lava Waterfalls (Hraunfossar) as well as Children Waterfall (Barnafoss) and read about the sad story of the waterfall. Then head on to the swimming pool in Húsafell.

Day 3
Drive to the crater Grabrok and climb this easy crater to experience a great view over a 3000-year-old lava field, forest, mountain and lake landscape. Explore Glanni waterfall as well as Paradise Hollow. If you golf clubs are with you the Glanni golf course is one not to be missed but the scenery is even better than the golf. Head to Hraunsnef Country Hotel, get a fantastic dinner and relax in the hot tub before heading to bed. If you are up for it, take the Elv walk in Hraunsnef and maby you will end up in a Elv dance.
